Welcome to Kootenai County, Idaho a part of the AHGP Project. It is our goal to provide you with the best information possible when searching for your Kootenai ancestors. We are Judy White and Dennis Partridge and we will be your host for Kootenai County. The county was organized in 1864 out of Nez Perce County, but was not organized until 1881. Once comprising most of the western Panhandle, the county’s present boundaries were established in 1915, following the formation of Benewah County to the south. I love to read biographies, doesn’t have to be my ancestors.  In reading one of my ancestors biographies I discovered information I knew that wasn’t correct.  I later learned that in most of the History Books with biographies, the bio was submitted by the person, and often they paid to be included in the book.  Read these publications like you would any information, check, check and even check again.
